Terms of Service

By accessing or using CocoConvert ("the Service"), operated by CocoConvert ("we", "us", "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. These terms apply to the entire website at cococonvert.com, our API, and all related services. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

We may update these terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email (if you have an account) or by posting a notice on our website. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement. If you are under the applicable age, you may not use the Service.

If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these terms.

CocoConvert provides online file conversion between various formats including images, video, audio, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, ebooks, archives, fonts, vectors, 3D models, subtitles, and code formats. The Service is available through our web interface and REST API. The Service can be used both with and without registration.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

You agree to comply with all applicable laws and not to:

• Upload files that contain malware, viruses, or malicious code
• Upload illegal content or content that infringes intellectual property rights
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits, quotas, or other service restrictions
• Use automated tools to scrape, overload, or disrupt the Service
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
• Use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable local, national, or international law
• Create multiple accounts to bypass free tier limitations
• Build a raw file conversion service on top of CocoConvert (API users must add significant value)
• Share API keys with unauthorized third parties

Violation of these terms may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without notice.

Files uploaded to CocoConvert are temporarily processed for conversion and automatically and permanently deleted within 24 hours. We do not retain, analyze, mine, or share your files. All processing is automated — no human can access your files. You retain all intellectual property rights to your content.

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to convert the files you upload, including compliance with copyright, licensing, and data protection laws.

Registration is optional for basic use. Creating an account enables access to conversion history, higher limits, and paid features. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Upon deletion, all personal data associated with your account will be permanently removed within 30 days.

The free tier includes advertisements and is subject to file size limits (250 MB per file), daily conversion minute limits, and hourly file limits (5 files per hour) as described on our Pricing page.

Paid plans offer enhanced features, higher limits, and an ad-free experience:

• Pro: 100 files per hour, 5 concurrent conversions, up to 5 GB per file.
• Business API: 200 files per hour, 10 concurrent conversions, up to 10 GB per file.
• Enterprise: Custom limits (500+ files per hour, 20 concurrent conversions), dedicated support.

Subscriptions are offered as 24-hour passes, monthly plans, or annual plans as detailed on the pricing page.

For users in India:

Payments are processed by Razorpay Software Private Limited, a PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant payment processor. All transactions are in Indian Rupees (INR). Razorpay processes your payment on our behalf.

For international users:

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

This means Paddle.com Market Limited is the entity that sells the subscription to you and handles billing, tax collection (including VAT, GST, and sales tax), invoicing, and payment processing. When you purchase a subscription, your contract for payment is with Paddle, and Paddle's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy apply to the payment transaction.

Paddle handles all applicable sales taxes, VAT, and GST automatically based on your location. Prices displayed may be adjusted to include local taxes.

• Billing: Subscriptions are billed in advance for the selected period (24 hours, 1 month, or 12 months). Annual plans are billed as a single payment.
• Renewal: Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle unless cancelled before the renewal date.
• Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access to paid features until then.
• 24-hour passes: Day passes are one-time purchases that expire 24 hours after activation. They do not renew automatically.
• Plan changes: You may upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period.

We offer a 14-day, no-questions-asked refund policy for all initial purchases and subscription renewals. If you are unsatisfied with the service for any reason, contact our support within 14 days of the transaction for a full refund.

How to request a refund:

• Email support@cococonvert.com with your account email and transaction details.
• For Paddle (international) transactions, you may also use Paddle's billing portal to request a refund directly.

Processing:

• Paddle transactions: Refunds are processed by Paddle as our Merchant of Record, typically within 5-10 business days.
• Razorpay (India) transactions: Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 5-10 business days.

Additional notes:

• 24-hour passes: the 14-day refund window applies from the time of purchase.
• EU consumers retain their statutory 14-day right of withdrawal under the Consumer Rights Directive (Directive 2011/83/EU).

API access is available on the Business API plan and above. API usage is subject to rate limits and quotas based on your plan. You agree to:

• Keep your API keys confidential and not share them with unauthorized parties
• Use the API as an integral component of your software that adds significant value
• Not offer a raw file conversion service as a stand-alone product using our API
• Comply with all applicable rate limits and usage restrictions

Excessive usage, abuse, or sharing of API keys may result in throttling or suspension. Enterprise customers may negotiate separate API terms and SLAs.

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, scaling operations, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control (force majeure).

We will make commercially reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of planned maintenance. We are not liable for any damages arising from service interruptions.

The CocoConvert name, logo, website design, and underlying technology are our intellectual property and/or the intellectual property of our licensors. You may not use our branding without prior written consent.

The open-source tools we use (including FFmpeg, ImageMagick, Sharp, LibreOffice, Pandoc, Calibre, Inkscape, FontForge, and others) are governed by their respective open-source licenses.

You are solely responsible for the content you upload. You must not upload content that infringes on any third party's intellectual property rights. CocoConvert does not monitor user content.

If you believe that content uploaded to our service infringes your copyright, please email legal@cococonvert.com with a description of the infringement. We will respond in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and equivalent international laws.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• CocoConvert is not responsible for any loss of data, corruption, or damages resulting from use of the Service.
• We do not make backups of your files. Always keep copies of your original files.
• In no event shall our total aggregate liability exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100 USD.
• We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunity.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain types of liability. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CocoConvert, its operator, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these terms, or your infringement of any third party's rights.

You may stop using CocoConvert at any time. You may delete your account from your account settings. Termination does not relieve you of any obligation to pay outstanding fees.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately if you breach these terms, fail to make timely payment, or if we are required to do so by law. We reserve the right to close your account with 30 days' notice for any reason.

We may change, update, or discontinue parts of the Service or the Service in its entirety. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will notify you at least 30 days prior to termination.

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India.

For EU consumers: Nothing in these terms affects your rights under mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence. You may bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence. The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

For Paddle transactions: Payment disputes related to transactions processed by Paddle are governed by Paddle's terms of service and applicable UK law.

You agree to comply with all applicable export control laws and regulations. You may not use the Service in any country or in any manner prohibited by applicable export control or sanctions laws.

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

These Terms of Service incorporate our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.
